Regional Engagement
Within the local government structure, the Government Office for the East of England (Go East) is responsible for supporting the DCSF by working with all agencies involved in delivering services for children and young people, to improve outcomes for all children and young people from 0-19 years of age.
Go East provides support and challenge to local authorities and their partners to deliver key priorities across the range of services for children and young people. Central to its approach is the work of a number of Children Services Advisers (CSAs) who take a lead on strategic engagement, with a particular emphasis on securing improved outcomes for children and young people through adoption of a Change for Children agenda. In addition to activities around Change for Children, Go East also monitors performance - and facilitates the development of partnerships - at a local and strategic level, to deliver a number of national programmes.
A central role of Children Matter East is to develop improved links and co-ordination between Go East and VCS organisations working with children, young people and families in the region. Its primary engagement via the VCS Engage programme is with the following regional partners:
- Children's Worforce Development Council, which is focused on workforce reform and integrated working at local and regional level (www.cwdcouncil.org.uk).
- Together for Children - a partnership formed to bring together national expertise in children's services and programme management (www.togetherforchildren.co.uk).
- The Training and Development Agency for Schools (www.tda.gov.uk).
- Youth Justice Board (YJB) (www.yjb.gov.uk)
